My best mate Jenny and I sat around the kitchen table. Spread across the wood laminate top was every color and design of wedding invite we could find inside a fifty mile radius. They included magazine clippings, stationery, envelopes and reams of ribbons.
I could tell because she kept caressing the sample with loving fingers. I blew my bangs out of my face with a sigh. She loved every invite she picked up, but we had to get them released and sent out by tomorrow.
I shook my head at her as she picked up the subsequent one and slanted her head to look at it. I forced the magazine I was holding in Jen's direction and picked up the subsequent one thumbing through it quickly. I was hoping not to get a single page with wedding invites. I peeked at a flower page, a dress page, a hair page, a ring page and then my eye started to twitch.
Suddenly my thumb snagged on a thicker page and the mag slipped open. It was a whole page of Macy's coupons. The discounts were extremely pretty with their red background and slender white lettering. My fave part of the design was the gigantic 20 p.c followed by an off anything in the store. My mouth dropped open when I checked out the fine print. It was reusable for the whole month.
Jen got excited, immediately slapping down the black and white sample she was stroking. I set the magazine down and tapped the page where the Macy's coupons were lying open. She peeked at the page then up at me in confusion.
To top it all off, I knew she was registered at Macy's because I was the one she hauled through the store.
I questioned if she was thinking of going to the mall, but I was truly thinking get me out of here! Sadly no, she wasn't thinking of the mall, but thinking of going online to print out some of the Macy's coupons to include with the invites thinking it would be perfect. She even said that way people could get their shopping done early and save some cash in the process.
Looking alarmed she asked my why not because it was a perfectly good idea.
Not needing to break her heart I told her some people might think it was tacky of her to incorporate discounts with her marriage invites. After a long pause she let me that she would only put the discounts with her folks invites. I smiled, holding up a thin white ribbon, and told her I wanted a Macy's coupon in my invite too.
